A speech was then delivered by Ms Rosine Saab, the chairperson of the association:
Dear brothers and sisters, on behalf of all the members of our association, I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for attending this special mass to inaugurate the MYWBD association and launch it out into the world. Ever since it has been founded and before we were known by our current name; the association was identified by its humanitarian deeds. But now we are proudly known by our name “MY YOUR WILL BE DONE”, Association, a name derived from the holiest of prayers taught by OUR LORD and Savior Jesus Christ whose glory and power are ever lasting. Amen.
I would like us to remember here the story of the blind man whose faith in the Lord has cured him, when he whole heartedly asked for God’s mercy and help in restoring his eye-sight; it was then that God said “Your faith has cured you.”
We, very often meet people that are, heavily burdened, poor and in need, deeply wounded and neglected, out-casts in their own society; just like this blind man; we, as simple human beings, can not do what the Lord can, for only he is capable of such miracles, but we can be his disciples, his students, his instruments on earth, help spread his words and show his love by following his teachings. The Bible is our constitution in this association, and his words our faith.
Our savior is one of love and mercy, a loving and forgiving God, who asks for nothing but our faith and belief in him, and our love for our fellow man.
Remember my friends, poverty is not only lack of money, it is also the absence of inner peace and tranquility, the inability to show love and compassion. Such things are not bought nor are they sold.
God has given them to the world freely and with out discrimination; why should we do otherwise if we were truly the children of God and his disciples.
The essence of our faith is love, empathy, caring, kindness, in any shape, or quantity; but the most important is the quality; for it is this quality that inspires and gives value to our deeds. Especially during the Lent, as it is the time for meditation and reflection, giving and sharing, growing with HIS love which we see in the faces of all those who are in need of his love.
As we read THE ACTS Chapter 14 it is not what we own and give that matters but what we have and freely give that makes the difference. And just like Paul, when he addressed the lame man; from birth, saying: “In the name of the Father, get up and walk.” That is how we, in MYWBD do God’s work;
We do everything IN HIS NAME so he may be glorified and we in return blessed and honored to be called his children. What we have is not ours, nor do we own it; we were entrusted with it to pass it on to those in need, in hope that one day they shall do the same, and in this way we would have not only spread HIS word but HIS love and devotion as well.
The Holy Bible is very clear in this matter, and God, as a sign of his love has given his only Son for the salvation of man, we as men the least we can do to show our love for our fellow man is to help, support and stand by each other in times of need. This is the will of our Lord and His Will Shall be Done.
Mrs. Edith- Hilda Shammas, the vice chairperson of the association had a few words to say for the occasion:
It was God’s will that saw to the birth of this association, which began with the humble and devoted efforts of Ms Rosine Saab few years ago. During The July War she dedicated her time and knowledge to help her fellow citizens who were unfortunately and abruptly forced to look for shelters in safer areas; some had no money, or clothing and at times no medicine. Ms Saab took it on herself to help those people, regardless or their race or religion; she had asked for help from all those she knew, and was able to provide some of the necessities needed in those circumstances. She even approaches the LBC TV station appearing on one of their shows “We Stand By Each Other” seeking support for many families and enlisting others’ help as well.
As we all know, Ms Saab has been miraculously restored to perfect health by the Grace of God and the intervention of St Rafka, after she had been diagnosed as having a rare and fatal brain cancer.
Hence began her journey easing the pain of others as hers was, and with it came the birth of MYWBD association.
With the help of the good-will doers and you are among the best; we here begin our one thousand mile journey dedicated to doing God’s will and spreading his word.
We thank you all very much.
